Avis Partners with Absa Cape Epic

Avis Rent a Car has announced that it is the transport solution provider to the Absa Cape Epic riders as well as the Absa Cape Epic crew for the ninth year in 2018.

The Absa Cape Epic takes place from 18 – 25 March 2018. The race is held over eight days and includes a time-trial prologue.

In addition, Avis will for the second year be sponsoring Reuben van Niekerk, the first lower limb amputee to complete the mountain bike race, along with team mate Kevin Benkenstein. Team Driepoot will once again take on the world’s toughest mountain bike race in 2018.

With sponsorship from Avis, Reuben will be taking part in the event, to raise awareness for Jumping Kids an organisation that provides customised prosthetics to children living with lower limb amputations.

Avis has been part of this race for nearly a decade providing various transport solutions for riders throughout the race. Avis supplies the race with vehicles for event logistics and the Premium Upgrade – a service package for those teams that would prefer a few more luxuries than the Absa Cape Epic tented race village offers.

Riders on the Premium Upgrade receive enhanced services at the race, including hotel/guest house accommodation, personal baggage assistance and personal massage services and transfers with Avis vehicles.

Chief Executive of Avis southern Africa, Rainer Gottschick, says, “Avis’s partnership with the Absa Cape Epic has always been exciting and continues to show our commitment in supporting cycling in the country and providing mobility for people living with disabilities. We wish Reuben and Kevin the best of luck! We believe that people are more important than cars, and being able to affect positive change through cycling demonstrates this.”
