South Africa's wildest province

The Eastern Cape is a playground, ready to wet any explorer's thirst for adventure.  While well known for it's surfing in Jeffrey's Bay and the harbour towns of Port Elizabeth and East London, there is much more to do in this province.

Heading west down the coastline you'll travel past fields of wind turbines providing clean and renewable energy for up to 100,000 South African households. The road soon joins up with the iconic Garden Route. Make sure you stop at Storms River Mouth, where you can cross long suspension bridges with the ferocious torrents of the ocean colliding just meters below you, or build up the courage to bungee jump off the Bloukrans Bridge, the worlds highest bridge jump.

If you're looking for a more rustic experience head up the eastern coast and stop off in one of the many laidback beach towns of the Wild Coast, spotting herds of majestic (and photogenic) Nguni cattle on the beaches. Take detours inland and have your breath taken away by the awe inspiring mountain ranges and friendly cultural villages. The road will keep calling, urging you to explore further, leading you over the Kei River Mouth into the Transkei where there is little to do but take in the raw and incredible beauty that this part of the world has to offer.
