Small town splendour and magnificent wild flowers

Home to mining towns and the infamous Big Hole of Kimberley, which is rich in the history of South Africa's diamond trade, this province offers a different, desert like, scenery that holds its own kind of beauty. Visit Upington and tour the nearby Augrabies National Park, home to the Augrabie Falls or take a road trip up to the Richtersveld National Park with it's moonlike landscapes.

Even though this province seems barren, when Spring arrives the Namaqualand region is transformed into a world of colour with wildflowers blooming in their thousands carpeting the earth in splashes of purple, yellow, orange, red, white and blue. This has been cast as a bucket-list item for many travellers and locals alike.
