ENHANCE YOUR VIEW SOCIAL MEDIA PROMOTION
COMPETITION RULES

1. This Competition is organized by Rent a Car Division of Barloworld South Africa (Proprietary) Limited t/a Avis Rent a Car (herein after referred to as “the Promoter”).

2. By entering the Competition, all participants and winners agree to be bound by the rules set out below.

3. A copy of the Competition rules will be available from 18 May 2015 until 28 August 2015 on the Promoter’s website at www.avis.co.za

4. The Competition is open to permanent residents of South Africa, except any person who is at the date of publication hereof:

4.1 A director, member, partner, employee, agent or consultant to the Promoter (or any of its subsidiaries or holding companies or any subsidiaries of its holding companies) or any other person who directly or indirectly controls or is controlled by the Promoter;
4.2 A spouse, life partner, immediate family member (including but not limited to parent, child, brother or sister), business partner or associate of any of the persons specified in 4.1 above;
4.3 A director, member, partner, employee, agent or consultant to supplier of goods or services which is the prize under this Competition, including but not limited to Experience Gifts Online Store cc (herein after referred to as “EGOS”) (or any of its subsidiaries or holding companies) or any other person who directly or indirectly controls or is controlled by the supplier;
4.4 A spouse, life partner, immediate family member (including but not limited to parent, child, brother or sister), business partner or associate of any of the persons specified in 4.3 above;
4.5 A marketing service provider of this Competition;
4.6 Under the age of 18 years.

5. The Competition commences on 1 June 2015 and ends on 28 August 2015 at 12h00 (both days inclusive).

6. There are 20 prizes to be won in total, each consisting of an Experience Gift Voucher valued at R 1,000 redeemable through EGOS.  The vouchers are open-dated and provide for the winners to select the dates of their choice from a selection of listed experiences up to a maximum face-value of R 1,000.  The prize specifically excludes any transport, travel arrangements and / or ancillary expenses, the cost of which will be bourne by the winner.  If the chosen experience is less than the face-value, the balance will be reflected as a credit to use against any future EGOS experience.  The credit will be valid for 12 (twelve) months from the date of issue.

 Vouchers are valid for 12 (twelve) consecutive calendar months from the date of issue.  All gift experiences offered are subject to availability and it is recommended that bookings are made at least 30 (thirty) days in advance and even further in advance for peak days such as weekends and holidays. 

Should the winner misplace the voucher or it is stolen or damaged, EGOS may, in its sole discretion and subject to submission of satisfactory proof (e.g. an affidavit), replace the voucher on receipt of an administration fee of R100, which will be for the winner’s cost.  Neither the Promoter nor EGOS can be held liable for the cancellation or postponement of any experience for reasons beyond their control, including but not limited to weather, mechanical failure, acts of God, etc.  In the event of cancellation or postponement of an event for any reason beyond the Promoter’s or EGOS’ control, every endeavour will be made to offer the winner an alternative date / time or experience.

Exchanging or upgrading an open-dated experience for an alternative experience is permissible.  The winner will liable for the difference in cost where the new alternative experience exceeds the face-value.  Similarly, if the cost of the new alternative is less than the face-value, the balance will be reflected as a credit to use against any future EGOS experience.  The credit is valid for 12 (twelve) months of the expiry of the original Experience Gift Voucher and will not be refunded or extended thereafter.  Changing a booked date amounts to cancellation and may incur cancellation charges if having to re-book, the cost of which will be bourne by the winner.

Venues and service providers differ from experience to experience, each with their own terms and conditions, and the winner is deemed to be aware of and accepts all said terms and conditions.  Each experience may carry some restriction and these may vary from supplier to supplier.  Restrictions (e.g. age, health, weight, height, etc.) will be clearly detailed with each experience confirmation and it is the winner’s responsibility to ensure that he / she complies entirely.

7. The winners will be announced on the Promoter’s website at www.avis.co.za and various social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, on the day of the winners being selected as per the dates specified in paragraph 10.  Such announcements will remain on the website and various social media platforms until the next winner is announced until all the winners have been announced.

8. As per the options specified below, there are two (2) ways in which participants can partake in the Competition.

i. Option 1 – The “Enhance My View” option requires participants to:

• Upload an image of their current “view” or surroundings on the Avis Twitter page at https://twitter.com/AvisSouthAfrica or the Avis Instagram page at https://instagram.com/avissouthafrica/ using the hashtag #UnlockTheWorld along with a short description of their current “view” or surroundings; and;
• Indicate where they would rather be and why the Promoter should enhance their current “view” or surroundings with a more exciting experience.
A total of 13 (thirteen) winners will be selected in this way, with one winner being selected each week as per the dates specified in paragraph 10.

ii. Option 2 – The “Unlock Your Adventure” option requires participants to:

• “Like” the Avis Facebook page at www.facebook.com/AvisSouthAfrica or follow Avis on Twitter at https://twitter.com/AvisSouthAfrica or follow Avis on Instagram athttps://instagram.com/avissouthafrica/; and
• Guess the correct location of an image of a winter holiday destination in South Africa that will be posted on the aforementioned pages.  Participant must submit their answer in the comments field of the posted image.  The image will be obscured, revealing just enough detail to provide participants with a clue where the destination is.  , More details of the image may be revealed with an additional post depending on the level of engagement the post receives and the number of correct answers submitted.  The full image will be revealed along with the announcement of the winner.  A new image will be posted every week.

A total of 7 (seven) winners will be selected in this way, with one winner being selected each week as per the dates specified in paragraph 10.

Multiple entries for each option are permitted and participants can increase their chances of winning by entering the Competition both ways..  A participant can only win once throughout the duration of the Competition.

9. The winners of the “Enhance My View” option will be determined by way of an evaluation process to be conducted by a representative/s of the Promoter.  The prize will be awarded to the entry for the most exciting and imaginative experience that meets the participation requirements as specified in paragraph 8 (i).

The winners of the “Unlock Your Adventure” option will be determined by way of a random draw to be conducted by a representative/s of the Promoter.  The prize will be awarded to the first correctly drawn entry that meets the participation requirements as specified in paragraph 8 (ii).

10. There will be a total of 13 (thirteen) evaluations in respect of the “Enhance My View” option, as specified in paragraph 8 (i), with 1 (one) winner selected each week on the following dates:

• 1 x R1000 voucher - 5 June 2015,
• 1 x R1000 voucher - 12 June 2015,
• 1 x R1000 voucher - 19 June 2015,
• 1 x R1000 voucher - 26 June 2015,
• 1 x R1000 voucher - 3 July 2015,
• 1 x R1000 voucher - 10 July 2015,
• 1 x R1000 voucher - 17 July 2015,
• 1 x R1000 voucher - 24 July 2015,
• 1 x R1000 voucher – 31 July 2015,
• 1 x R1000 voucher - 7 August 2015,
• 1 x R1000 voucher - 14 August 2015,
• 1 x R1000 voucher - 21 August 2015; and
• 1 x R1000 voucher - 28 August 2015. 

There will be a total of 7 (seven) draws in respect of the “Unlock Your Adventure” option, as specified in paragraph 8 (ii), with 1 (one) winner drawn each week on the following dates:

• 1 x R1000 voucher - 5 June 2015,
• 1 x R1000 voucher - 12 June 2015,
• 1 x R1000 voucher - 10 July 2015,
• 1 x R1000 voucher - 17 July 2015,
• 1 x R1000 voucher - 24 July 2015,
• 1 x R1000 voucher - 7 August 2015,
• 1 x R1000 voucher -21 August 2015

To qualify for entry into the weekly evaluations / draws, entries must be received by 12h00 on the above evaluation / draw dates.  Entries received after 12h00 will be carried over to the following week’s evaluation / draw.  If less than ten (10) entries are received in a particular week, the entries will be accumulated and carried over to the following week’s evaluation / draw, with two (2) winners selected that week.

11. The prize winners will be notified via their respective social media accounts after the selection / draw has been conducted.  The potential winners may be required to provide a copy of their identity document to a representative of the Promoter for the purposes of verifying their identify and thereby consent to the processing of their personal information and storing of such information on the Promoter’s database.  The Promoter undertakes not to disclose any of the prize winners’ personal information other than for the declared purpose, unless required to do so by a court of law or under any applicable legislation.

12. A potential prize winner is not an actual winner until his / her submission is validated and his / her documents are completed and submitted to the Promoter.  Should the winner be found not to have complied with these rules, he / she will be automatically disqualified and forfeit the prize, and selection of a replacement winner shall take place and shall be selected in the same manner as the first winner was chosen.

13. All participants and winners, as the case may be, indemnify the Promoter, a supplier of goods or services which is the prize under this Competition, a marketing service provider of this Competition, their subsidiaries, holding companies and any subsidiaries of their holding companies (including their directors, employees, members, independent contractors, agents, consultants, sub-contractors and representatives) against any and all loss / damages that may be sustained directly / indirectly arising out of / pursuant to this Competition or resulting from the acceptance of and / or possession of and / or use of the prizes on offer, including but not limited to loss / damages arising out of / pursuant to personal injury, death, property damage and claims based on publicity rights, defamation and / or invasion of privacy unless due to the negligence of the Promoter.

14. The Promoter will endeavour to contact each prize winner once every day for 5 (five) consecutive working days after selecting / drawing their entry.  If the Promoter is unable to reach a winner for whatsoever reason during the period, the prize will be forfeited and selection of a replacement winner shall take place and shall be selected in the same manner as the first winner was chosen.

15. Following successful notification by the Promoter in accordance with paragraph 11, the Promoter will provide each winner with a letter of confirmation specifying the details for redeeming the prize.

16. The prize is not transferable.  No substitution, cash redemption, or assignment of the prize is permitted and the Promoter is not liable for any defect in the prize.  The Promoter of the Competition reserves the right to substitute the prize with any other prize of comparable or greater commercial value for any reason.

17. The Promoter may require the winners to be identified, photographed and published in printed media or to participate in marketing related activities or be present when the draw takes place or when the winners are announced.  The winners will be given the opportunity to decline the publication of their image and participation in the Promoter’s marketing material in so far as it relates to the Competition, including but not limited to consenting to share images of their experiences with the Promoter for publication on Avis’ various social media pages and / or for a representative/s of the Promoter to be present to share images of the winners’ experiences for publication on Avis’ various social media pages.

18. The judges’ decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
